FME 2007 includes over 2100 user-requested enhancements and features extensive enhancements to FME's raster capability. With this release, FME now stands alone in the spatial ETL industry as the only solution offering Extract, Transform, and Load capabilities for both vector and raster data. We've added over 50 new transformers, 20 of which are specifically for manipulating raster data. Nine newly-added raster formats include HDF4/HDF4-EOS ASTER/Hyperion formats, ERDAS Raw, and RADARSAT2. For the first time, a WMS reader is also included in FME.
Fifteen new vector formats include ASPRS LIDAR Data Exchange Format (read-only), GeoRSS, and GeoConcept – a format used extensively in France. (GeoConcept writing support has been added to existing reading support.)
Users who need to display their data in multiple languages will benefit from enhanced support for text-based formats that support Unicode character encoding schemes, and we've improved FME's support for measures as well. The MRFCleaner - a geometry cleaning transformer that made its debut in FME 2006 GB - now cleans 3D data. Linear optimization technology available through a new Curvefitter transformer allows users to replace multiple line segments with arcs, producing more visually appealing linework while reducing file size by up to 80%. FME Workbench includes many usability enhancements; highlights of these improvements are described below.
